The pair married in Castello Di Vincigliata, a castle set against a back drop of the romantic Tuscan Hills, in Florence in front of 105 family members.
Lisa opted for a destination wedding for a number of different reasons; “For the experience, hot weather and something a little bit more intimate,” she explained.
“I didn’t want a wedding with 350 people. I just wanted to be joined by my immediate family, close colleagues and friends.”
When asked about her choice of location, Lisa revealed that there were other options before the couple finally decided to wed in Florence.
“When we decided that we were going to host our wedding abroad, we initially set our hearts on France. This was mainly influenced by the fact that my mother is a French teacher.”

However after flying out to Italy for a quick trip the couple knew that this was their dream wedding location. She explained, “The moment we landed we just knew Italy was where we wanted our wedding to be.”
Lisa brought a sense of old world glamour to her big day wearing a beautiful classic ivory white gown by British designer Suzanna Neville.
The dress featured a structured bodice, silk skirt and diamond encrusted shoulders that glistened as she walked down the aisle.
Lisa surprised her guests with a second dress as the evening progressed.
She explains: “I wore two bridal dresses, aside from the gown that I wore when I walked down the aisle, I also wore a slinky gown with loads of diamantes by the same designer that evening.”
The happy newlywed shared some of her top tips for a great wedding day with XPOSÉ focusing on the most important aspect – the dress!
“For brides-to-be who are undecided on their wedding dress – I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Suzanne Neville (who recently designed Northern Irish TV presenter Christine Bleakley’s wedding dress).”
After considering cutting up her mother’s wedding dress and re-wearing it for her own big day, Lisa says she is glad she got a dress of her own. She admits: “I am delighted that I opted for Suzanne Neville designs. Her navy blue bridesmaid dresses fitted me perfectly and really suited my body shape.”
She paired the dress with a pair of Jimmy Choo heels and a two-tier veil.
The look was completed with a pastel pink and orange bouquet made by florist Josephine Higginbottom.
After finding the perfect dress and location Lisa’s top tip is to team up with an Irish wedding planner if you are planning a wedding abroad to avoid any details being lost in translation.
“I enlisted in the help of the Irish wedding expert Blaithin O’ Reilly. I felt it made a massive difference to my planning experience, as we were able to discuss the finer details over a cup of coffee”, she said.
